Sunday, July 20 - Spread the Word!

We have had the first Team Sarcoma event held in an online community! Has the event been fun or meaningful for you? Your challenge is to tell the world that you participated in Team Sarcoma this year. Visit
this page
and share your thoughts.
Also, share any final ideas you have about how the challenge went in this thread, and talk amongst yourselves to wrap up the event. Would you want to do this next year? What would you like to add to next year's event? And finally, oh finally, I am hoping to plan a long-weekend meet-up next year that will coincide with Team Sarcoma. We may even meet where the core team will be traveling in the US. Will some of you try and join us?
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for making this such a great week!

I think this was a great idea and it was a terrific success. I would definitely want to do this next year. It is a great opportunity to get involved without having to leave the house. I feel like I got to know everyone better here both from reading your stories and seeing all of your goofy sides!
It really WAS a challenge as it took a lot of thought and soul searching for each day's post. I felt myself getting choked up a few times. The fun challenges added some much needed comic relief that we could all use!
This meant a lot to me to be involved. It really consumed my every thought as you can see from my embarrassing moment on the social board.
I would love to do a meet up next year if I can swing it.
Great job, everyone!!
xoxo Deborah

I agree with Deborah whole heartedly!!! This was fun, even the emotional tears. I looked forward to everyday to see what the challenge would be. I believe there was only one day that I did not post anything. I loved reading what the others posted and the pictures. So nice to see the people that are family with you. Again as Deborah said it took some soul searching to think of how I felt about stuff, for that I am grateful Mary. I learned as much about myself as I did about the many others. Can't wait for the next one to come along. Maybe next time I can be at an activity as well as online.
Thank you all with all of my heart! Hugs!!!

The online challenges were great fun, I think it made us all feel like we were part of the event even though for different reasons we all couldn't be there. I feel it also brought us closer together as a group and it was great that we could all take part in things at the same time no matter on the time zone. Thanks for all your hard work Mary, and the others on the core team! I bet your all aching today!

I think it was a GREAT idea to have this Sarcoma Event. I'm proud to wear this bracelet!! because I went through a lot. I'm limping when i walk but who cares if you stare at me you have no idea what I went through. I'm a SURVIVOR!! And I'm proud of that!
It was such a great idea that helped me to know many members of our Cafe much better.
Love you, all!
Hugs, Olga

I'm so glad we had so many people participate. We are truly a family here. I hope that people who are silent members or who are passing through looking for some hope & encouragement, can see that if you reach inside you can find the strength to make it through.
I was so surprised at how emotional I was as I went to the Sarcoma walk and participated in our online event. I almost feel relieved that I was able to let my guard down. I have been in fight mode for so long. I think I was scared to relax for fear cancer would sneak up when I wasn't looking.
Mary, when you read this I hope you can feel in my post that I am truly grateful for you and ABC Cafe. Much love, Rene
P.S. In the words of the great Carol Burnett "I'm so glad we had this time together". You know I had to make a funny. Don't want it to get too heavy around here. LOL

Having a Team Sarcoma event online helped me to feel like I was doing something that mattered, even if it was "only" among us. It also helped me to feel connected to all the other Team Sarcoma events throughout the world.
I would most definitely like to do something similar next year.
Thanks Mary, and everyone for your participation. It was great to get acquainted and be a part of it all.

Mary, I think it was a great event -- thanks so much to you and anyone else who helped with the creation and creativity. I enjoyed it thoroughly, tears and laughs, as others have said. I would love to do it again next year and if I can travel to meet up with some of the group, so much the better. My family got a kick out of being a part of it, too. I think they sometimes feel helpless in knowing how to support me, and this gave them a fun opportunity to do so. Great job!!!

This was a great event. It helped get me motivated to participate in our online community a little more. One thing I did, was create a Liddy Shriver piece of flair on Facebook and sent it to a lot of my friends. If anyone is on Facebook, just add the Flair application and search for sarcoma and you will see the button. I also invited them to join the cause on Facebook. I got several questions from people who had know clue about Sarcoma. Together we can educate people and help raise $ for research. I look forward to becoming more involved with Team Sarcoma next year and hopefully sponsoring some sort of event. I already have some crazy ideas to help raise awareness and ultimately $ for research!
