From Elizabeth in the Chondrosarcoma Group - This message applies to anyone with sarcoma.Dr. Sant Chawla in Los Angeles asked to make it known and has CLEARLY stated that he would have an initial consultation (second opinion) with ANYONE with sarcoma, and if they can't pay (or their insurance doesn't cover it), he would waive the fee for that visit.
Dr. Chawla clearly stated that a sarcoma specialists 'early' consultation is what's MOST important for a sarcoma patient's long term survival, and Dr. Chawla could make treatment recommendations to the sarcoma patient's local oncologist so that you would only have to make one trip to see him if you do not live near him.
Many times proper treatment can be carried out locally for the patient. This is the second time Dr. Chawla emphasized this.
He is serious about this. And if it was me I would take him up on it.
