An Interesting Press Release

The information in this article was presented at the Folkman lecture. Dr. Folkman stated that there are now four lines of defense in cancer treatment:

SURGERY
RADIATION
CHEMOTHERAPY AND
ANGIOGENIC INHIBITORS

Dr. Folkman's list of new drugs was presented and included Avastin, Endostatin (he discussed Endostar as well, Endostar is being developed by the Chinese, and Dr. Folkman explained that it "may even be better than Endostatin"), Sorafenib, (Macugen-being used currently and successfully for wet macular degeneration), along with others. He presented a number of cases of different types of  cancer successfully treated with angiogenic inhibitors.

For more fascinating information about angiogenesis, check out NOVA online where you can watch an hour-long NOVA special by Dr. Folkman on your computer.
