We banked some little dudes.  They are still in a freezer.  I've been completely wiped out from treatment, so no worries about a future vasectomy.  That's a bonus.

Even 2.5 years out of treatment, we're still adjusting so that we can consider having kids.  It takes time and patience to get into the right comfort level to do something like that after recovery.  I was pretty non-committal to my wife about having kids for fear of a relapse.  But she said something to me one day that changed my mind a bit and thawed me out.  She told me that she would be glad to have a little baby like me regardless of what happened... and that it would make her very happy to see a little of me in someone else.  It was strange.  I never looked at it that way.  I always thought about protecting her from the burden of taking care of someone if I wasn't able to be there to help.  But she looks at it as a blessing to have a gift like this.

I am doing fine.  I'm not going anywhere... at least not if I have anything at all to say about it.  But my instinct as a guy is always to protect someone from my bad judgement... so I am ever cautious... but getting more relaxed with time.  :-)

We haven't had any children since my chemotherapy but, my husband and I adopted our daughter about a year before and plan to add to our family through adoption again. We did however adopt after he had chemotherapy.
I also was apprehensive about the future and leaving my husband with 2 children to raise. He said he really wants 2 children no matter what the future holds. He also reminded me of how exciting it was to get "on the list" for adoption. Having that to look forward to and "take the focus off of cancer" looks pretty good to me. It took us about 10 months after completing all of the paperwork etc. It was tough but so worth it after our daughter was in our arms. We chose to do open adoption and will do the same this next time. It's been a great experience so far and HONESTLY I couldn't imagine loving or feeling closer to my child if she were biologically mine.
