Everton striker Beto aims to use his performances on the pitch to silence critics after coming under fire for his performances in his first season.

Beto had an unsuccessful first season at Everton after moving from Udinese, scoring just three goals in 30 league appearances.

“Sometimes I read the comments when I play or miss a chance. They’ll say, ‘Beto missed again.’ But I like it because I’m like, ‘Okay, I’ll shut them up.’

“I take it personally too. When I’m training the next week or the next day, I remember (the criticism) and I’m like, ‘No more. They can’t talk about me like that anymore.’
