Howe believes Gordon is committed to Magpies despite Reds interest
Eddie Howe believes Anthony Gordon will remain committed to Newcastle despite being open to a move to Liverpool if the two clubs can reach an agreement.
The Daily Mail revealed in June that talks were taking place between the Magpies and the Reds over a move for Gordon, with the England winger open to a move if a deal was reached.
However, Newcastle have found a way around the black hole of financial regulation of £70m by selling Jankuba Minteh to Brighton and Elliot Anderson to Nottingham Forest.
Gordon remains on holiday after being with England at Euro 2024 and Howe is confident there will be no problem with the 23-year-old when he returns to training สมัคร ufabet.
“I’d welcome Anthony back with three arms if I had them!” Howe said.
“He’s a very important player for us. We don’t want to lose anyone. Why would we want to lose our best player? We fought hard to make the decision. The last two or three weeks have been very difficult.”
“Anthony is a big part of what we’re doing. He needs a little break. He had a very difficult season and the Euros affected him as well. I’m sure he’ll be OK.”
“I think you can judge Anthony by what he gives to Newcastle on the pitch. He has commitment. We never spoke to him during the summer about anything unclear or negative. He is the Anthony Gordon who has given everything to Newcastle and I want to make that clear to all our supporters. When he comes back, he will be ready.”
